Pouches

What are pouches?

In terms of packaging, a pouch is a flexible bag usually made of materials such as plastic, silver foil or paper. It is designed to hold and protect product. Unlike rigid packaging, pouches are lightweight, flexible and can be made into a variety of shapes and sizes depending on the needs of the product. Known for ease of use, durability, and custom design, pouches are ideal for bulk foods, pet food, cosmetics, and supplements.

Based on design and functionality, there are two main categories available:

Flat pouches

These are most often disposable bags with 3 seams – sides and bottom. That means that they can only be placed on the shelf flat or lying down, so special cutouts are often made so that they can be easily hung. These bags are often used for single serving or packaging, for example, product samples or small snacks.

Stand-up pouches (Doypacks)

These bags have a bottom that lets them stand upright, ensuring stability and visibility for your branded product. Stand-up bags or “doypack” bags are usually used in situations where the product is intended to be placed directly on the shelf rather than in specially designed hanging stands.

In both types of bags we can also incorporate:

– a zip closure system that allows the product packaging to be opened and closed repeatedly
– cutouts that allow the bag to be easily hung or multiple bags to be strung together
